It feels a little bit like an escape room for kids with a fun and festive twist. Kids use a flashlight (or any light source) to reveal hidden clues and solve a festive mystery word.
How To Play ‘The Christmas Bauble Mystery’ Scavenger Hunt
This game includes 10 hidden bauble clues, each with a secret picture and letter that can only be revealed with a flashlight or torch.
Children shine their light onto each bauble to uncover the image, match it on their recording sheet, and write down the correct letter to reveal a mystery word at the end.

Supplies needed:
- The Christmas Bauble Mystery printable
- A flashlight/torch (or any light source) to reveal the hidden clues
- Printer + thin card or regular paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pen or pencil for the recording sheet
- Optional: Laminator (helpful for durability and repeated use
Setup Guide:
- Print the baubles onto thin card or paper.
- Cut out the 10 coloured baubles and the 10 black-and-white clue baubles.
- Glue each clue bauble onto the back of a coloured bauble.
Tip: You may want to add a second sheet of paper behind the clue bauble before gluing to make the picture and letter less visible from the back. - Laminate (optional) but helpful if you want them to last beyond one use.
- Prepare the recording sheet for each child or group.
- Hide the baubles around your home, classroom, club room, or any festive space.
- Give each child a flashlight/torch to shine onto the baubles and reveal the hidden picture and letter clues.
- Children then use the recording sheet to match each picture, write the correct letter, and solve the final mystery word.
No Torch? No Problem!
Any light source will work, a phone, a window with sunlight, or even a computer screen. And if you don’t have a colour printer, that’s fine too. You can play the game using just the black-and-white clue baubles and the recording sheet.
