My Favorite Bug Is… A Fun, Bug Bulletin Board Idea

My Favorite Bug Is… This fun, low prep, craft and writing activity is perfect for spring bulletin boards and classroom displays.

Kids love bugs. They love colouring them, talking about them, and arguing about which one is best.

This My Favourite Bug Is… craft takes all of that enthusiasm and turns it into a beautiful classroom display that doubles up as a fun, opinion writing activity.

It’s hands-on, low prep, and the kind of thing students genuinely look forward to. And when it goes up on the wall? It looks absolutely brilliant. 🐞

My Favorite Bug Is… Craft and Writing Activity

How does it work? Students choose from 12 bugs and insects to colour and cut out, then they assemble a magnifying glass with an interactive flap.

Their bug goes on the front — and when you lift the flap, their writing is waiting underneath.

It’s a simple idea but the flap feature makes it feel really special, students love the reveal, and so do visitors to your classroom. Mounted onto coloured card, the magnifying glasses make a stunning spring bulletin board display that’s full of personality.

For students ready to go further, there’s an optional extension writing page with the prompt “My favourite bug is… because…” so they can practise giving a reason for their opinion too.
