Print & Play Days is a place for printable crafts, games, challenges and STEM-inspired activities for older kids aged 7+.

The kind of activities that give children something to make, build, & figure out, without feeling too young or too complicated.

I create activities for families, teachers, home educators and group leaders looking for something they can actually get on with, whether that’s a quick activity at home, something to run with a group, or an idea to fill an afternoon.

How Print & Play Days started

For a while, I thought my own children had simply outgrown making and playing.

They weren’t interested in the things we used to do anymore, and I assumed we’d reached the end of that stage.

Then I sat in on a STEM craft session with them and realised I’d got it completely wrong.

They hadn’t outgrown making and creating. They’d just outgrown the activities I was offering them.

Around the same time, I moved from helping with Rainbows to Brownies and discovered that I really enjoyed creating activities for the 7–10 age group.

They’re at an age where they can take an idea and run with it, solve problems, make decisions and come up with their own ways of doing things. They don’t necessarily need an activity to be made easier for them, they need something that gives them a bit more to get their teeth into.

And that’s really where Print & Play Days came from.

Activities that are actually doable

My own children are now 10 and 14, and quite a lot of what I make starts with one of them saying, “That looks cool!” or “Yes, I want to do that!” I make and test the activities myself, either at home or with children at our local kids’ club.

That means I can find out where things are likely to go wrong before you have a room full of children trying to do them!

I’m looking for activities that are doable rather than Pinterest-perfect, activities where children can get involved and do as much as possible themselves, rather than spending most of the time waiting for an adult to take over.

I also try to keep materials and preparation realistic. You shouldn’t need a cupboard full of specialist supplies or hours of preparation just to give children something interesting to do.

Because I don’t think children suddenly stop wanting to create and play just because they’re too old for the activities they used to enjoy.

Sometimes they just need something new to figure out.

That’s what I’m trying to create here.
